Amira Hegazy at Statement Press designed and printed these beautiful posters for our Winterreise concert. We couldn't be happier with the results. The background is a woodcut printed with silver ink, and the letters are printed from forged type, printed in navy blue.
Since its opening in May of 2014, I've been playing regularly at Haywood's Piano Bar, located on the corner of Main and Washington Streets in downtown Lexington, Virginia. There have been many great memories since then. Here are a few photos from my time playing there.
My friend Jonny snapped this photo of me jamming at Haywood's Piano Bar in downtown Lexington, Virginia.
Mozart is back! And playing Mozart, at the bar, on Halloween.
Wolfgang and Constanze.
For Valentine's Day, I offered a special treat. An evening featuring all music on the theme of love, these two (Christian Kennedy and Elizabeth Powell) offered a breathtaking Pur Ti Miro by Monteverdi.
With singer Elizabeth Schmitz.
With singer Anthonia Adams. A fantastic musical evening!
A classic shot from the early days of Haywood's. Here pictured with Tom Chaffee, Ayten Guluzade, and Natalie Oleksyshyn.
I wasn't booked to play, but got roped into some E minor blues with the Funhopper Family Band. This photo by Morgan G. Harris.
This photo was taken by Kevin Remington for the Washington and Lee University Music Department's online staff directory.
This fantastic shot from January 2015 was captured by Morgan G. Harris.
Painter Agnes Carbrey, dancer Chanel Smith, and myself teamed up for this collaborative performance at the now-closed Studio 11 art gallery in Lexington, VA. Our friend Lori Frascati was kind enough to think of taking a few shots on her iPhone. Thanks Lori!
Kat Kiernan and I discovered a hidden Steinway in a beautiful alley-way space right off Main Street Lexington, VA back in 2013. After cajoling the owner into allowing us to do a photo session in the space, Kat took hundreds of exposures while I had a ball playing freely at this wonderful instrument. A week later, she sent me this one shot.
Following my graduate recital at the University of Michigan in 2011, my uncle Brian Callahan snapped these nice shots of me at the Steinway in Stamps Auditorium.
